2d images in 3d enviroment explained

After making the kiss kiss bang bang video clip someone asked me how i did it, this is a very very quick and simple explanation of the 3d zooming side of it, but doesn't explain how the lighting was done.

they're both the right settings. all i do when i finish is export right? i'm tryin again to export as quitime movie (.mov). how would i exoport as mpeg if i wanted to?

Your not clicking "file" then "export" are you? if so that's kinda the wrong thing to do. In animation we use a process called "rendering". when editing is finished click "composition" then "add to render queue". In the lower left of the screen u will find a tab labeled "render queue". Click it and notice there is one item in this queue, your video. It's a pain because all the setting options are so small but change them to you want then click the "render" button on the right of your screen.
