  • Did you increase the play speed of this video...

Well my card is 8600gt and with amd 6000+...

cant get this much smothness or speed in rendering with kde4.1 ....

  • 8 Series cards are known to be slow because of the nvidia driver(I have a 7800GTX), they are planning to fix this.

The Xorg nv driver is much smoother but I for some reason had trouble recording anything.

  • What desktop capture application did you use to record this?

  • gtkrecordmydesktop, there is a Qt one as well.

  • I particularly like the new panel toolbox. I always disliked the pop-up configuration dialogue for Kicker.

Looking forward to KDE 4 becoming as mature as KDE 3. The speed things are going at is amazing!

  • My C2D e4500 HD3870 4GB 800mhz @ 1680x1050 outputed 5fps under Ubuntu 8.04 64bit. I can to ~20fps @1680x1050 in camstudio (set to 200fps) and ~40fps @1024x640. But to the 4gb camstudio .avi limit, i can't to more than ~2 minutes. Hypercam can to .avi over 4gb and 30fps @1680x1048 no problem. codec was huffyuv, OS Vista 64.

Aint ther faster lossless encoders for recordmydesktop?

  • No it's not a dock, it's just panels which you can have as many as you like and place them where you like.

  • Relax man, no need for cursing. Do you know if it is a native KDE panel or a plasmoid extension? It's hard to tell from the video, some users might misinterpreted it for a dock like I did, because it looks like a dock. Thanks to GIMPMan1972 for promoting Linux / KDE / open source by posting the video.

  • Why are you calling it a DOCK (all caps BTW)? Just because it's a bunch of icons? It's just a panel with launchers. Fuck off

  • I noticed that the DOCK in this video is a joke. It's not dynamic when he applications open and close, the user still relies on the taskbar for that task. Also none of the windows are opened fullscreen, they never overlap the DOCK. At the point the user manually placed one window over the DOCK and the DOCK stayed in the foreground.
