  • I heard Villarroel live as Violetta in Traviata at the Met in 1994. She was very good, with ringing sound that filled that hall like few singers can. in this performance, both singers seem uncomfortable.

  • This is probably the worst mainstream version of this splendid duet. Domingo tries but is too heavy, she is at best dull (and her intonation is more than suspect, she certainly sags at times). I was at this concert and the applause was at best polite.

  • dacor31: this is not a high-powered opera. The story is a simple one about a mature batchelor who, despite himself, is enchanted by this sweet girl. The singers in this video don't bring that out at all. If you take the story and its music as just a light human story about good but ordinary people, and you take the whole score, I think you might like it better.

  • I didn't know this famous Duet !

I heard several interpretations and I'm not moved at all.

  • Wow Domingo is late on a entrace, and saves it really nicely, and the tenor is supposed to sign the high note at the end. Wow. Interesting.

  • I hate her acting/lack of it. Did she have some face lifts or something? The muscles on her face don't move. But her voice sounds great!
