If nbc would have picked this up it would have run for a few more seasons. CBS cancelled quite a bit of their line up for the fall season the following year.

@blueyes1077 Or...it could've been a ploy to boost ratings to get renewed for another seasons (keep everyone's job). It was supposedly going to be renewed until CBS decided to cancel the whole line-up. Designing Women was canceled that year also.

4:08 to 5:57 is by far and away, the best scene of The Golden Palace. It shows the quality writing, the impeccable acting, and proves beyond a doubt that by removing any one of the fine ladies, was simply a kiss of death for the show; hence the one season run.
