It looked like that bus was going to try and beat it across the crossing before the gates came down.

Nice, I was in Laurel for an hour yesterday and didn't realize there was a defect detector nearby, it caught a NB MARC as I was leaving.

Do they have two different defect detectors within a tenth of a mile there?

Yes they do. I assume they are different types since it is a single track line here. Great for me though since I can tell from my scanner which way the train is going.
