Combine 3 cups self-rising flour (see my video on how to make your own! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vFf6cXGJoWc ), a 12-ounce can of beer and 3 tablespoons of sugar in a greased loaf pan. Bake for 25 minutes at 350 degrees then drizzle with melted butter. Fragrant and tasty.

I found that I had to bake mine for an additional 10-12 minutes as it was just not baked all the way through. It was very tasty but I do not drink alcohol and I don't know but it felt like I was getting drunk. I will note, however, that I was raging with a fever most of the afternoon and into the night when I made this (some sort of virus) so I'm sure that did not help.

ohohoh See the Saltines on the counter??? Yep. Tonight or tomorrow I am totally using that to make something. Just got the box at Target :))

  • So simple, and it looks really good. I thought, when you pulled it out, that it looked a bit pale and underdone, because i always gauge bread by the shade of gold in the crust. So it really *did* need more time.

I'm in the mood for red beans-n-rice tomorrow, and a loaf of this would go *just* right with it. Ima doin' it.

  • @anmoose mmm show me a pic when you are done! I will make this again, bake it longer and maybe only use half the beer(?) with water added.

  • seven cases... thats a lot of beer bread ;)

  • @snarkdetriomphe This made me guffaw HA!

  • I'm always told that the alcohol evaporates with the heat when you cook/bake with it. I don't know, we aren't drinkers either and I always worry when kids eat food made with wine and beer. Hubby's Dad used to make beer bread, it was so complicated though. This one is very simple.

  • @ArgentineShamrock Yeah, anytime it has alcohol in it, I won't let kids around it. I do not care if it bakes off or loses the alcohol content, I would not feed it to a kid. I even warm adults not to drive after my rum pound cake ;)

  • @CookingandCrafting

I made this after 25 mins of baking i put it back in for another 10mins and it turned out perfect.

  • @CookingAndCrafting,

    Piccies in the mail... :-)

I suspect that replacing beer with water "might" not work out. The fizz is part of the leavening action, and without it, it might not rise well.

  • hope ur feeling better now thats what i call dedication ur sick and still making vids

  • nah you didn't get drunk from your beer bread. that rum pound cake sounds like it could get ya tipsy though hehe :)

  • lol funny to see you with an open can of bud light next to you ;) hey kid.
