After sitting dormant for many years at Roswell NM, this exTWA L1011 it was flown to Kansas City Downtown airport (MKC) for the Airline History Museum where it will remain on static display (some know it as the "Save a Connie" museum). I understand it was the first and only time an L1011 has landed at MKC. I'm not familiar with the project but I know that it took a tremendous amount of time and money by some very dedicated people to make this happen.

  • I thought it was a perfect landing for the scenario. Plant it and concentrate all efforts on getting it slowed down. A wonderful job and glad I was there to see it.

  • We (the AHM) have a gentleman who volunteered to raise funds for a paint job. Our priorities right now are funding the DC-3 and the Connie to fly as well as updating our museum. Should the day come for Elle to get a paint job and AA gives permission (TWA logo) she will look just like she did when she flew for TWA.

  • Hope he is able to get the funds gathered for a new paint job. Would be great to see her in her TWA colors.

  • wow i didnt reliese that airport could hold that plane...im not from KC just been by it some.....thats awesome..I love this plane for some reason.

  • Is this the plane I see sitting there everyday on my way home from work on I-35N that never moves? It looks like it. I've always wondered what the deal is with that plane, now I guess I know.

  • so sad!

  • @ Matt # 3 did not engage. Good eye.

  • Great video!! :-)

Is it me, or did it appear that the #3 reverser didn't engage?

  • What a beautiful airplane... Remember quite well how amazing they did look in the old (early 90's) delta paint scheme.

  • Yes... and TWA rocked... to bad ol' Carl Icahn drove this awsome airlines into the ground ... what a piece of shiit...
