I spoke with Oscar® Winner Louis Gossett Jr., day of the World Premiere of his latest film project "The Least Among You" which focuses on the struggle of the first African-American student to break the color barrier at an all-white seminary. Louis Gossett Jr. was drawn to the film because of its message of hope and the power of a person to leave footprints in the garden. That message is one that is close to his heart. Producer Julia Verdin believes that the themes of the film echo the spirit of the extraordinary life of our President-elect, and coincide with his upcoming inauguration.

LEAST made its world premiere, January 12th, at the 2009 Palm Springs International Film Festival.

Gossett has starred in films that include "The Landlord" (1970), "The Skin Game" (1971) with James Garner; "Travels with My Aunt" (1972), "The Deep" (1977) and "An Officer and a Gentleman" (1982), which earned Gossett a Best Supporting Oscar. He is the recipient of many acting accolades, including multiple Golden Globes, Emmys and Peoples Choice Awards.

Gossett founded the Eracism Foundation and has committed the last quadrant of his life to an all out conscious offensive against racism, violence, and ignorance relative to the role and significance of history in positioning individuals and collective communities for the future.

  • @NomadicAddict You are a universal moron. Racism is always just around the corner. It is NATURAL to dislike something that is not like yourself. Got it? It's NATURAL.

  • Lou, you are a marvel as far as an actor and a great guy as well. I first saw you in "Skin Game" with Jim Garner and then again on "Rockford Files", again with Jim. You and Garner, two pros that will never be forgotten.

  • The only way racism will end is when it is no longer beneficial to one group over another.

As long as some people put a certain race on a pedestal simply for being born with a certain skin color, then racism continues. Only when minorities stop worshipping the majority and disrespecting their own, is when "eracism" stands a chance.
