    EXCEPT one little detail...

    the amount of energy it takes to de-salinate water is huge, like nuclear-reactor size energy. if only it were so easy...

  • but water should be supplied close to free for countries lacking water resources

  • Lots of nuclear powered ships around doing nothing in mothballs---they are called submarines---marry up the reactors with the desalination process. Unlike civilian reactors the navy reactors have redundancy times 2 and times three in some cases and are safe.
