面授 [menju]: literally, "to give the face"; Face (to face) transmission.
面授は面処の受授なり
"Face-giving is receiving and giving at the face."
(Zen Master Dogen, Menju 面授, «Shobogenzo 正法眼蔵»)
Dogen painstakingly explains in the chapters of Senjo 洗浄 and Senmen 洗面 in «Shobogenzo 正法眼蔵» how to wash the face and other body parts. Japanese words "Senjo 洗浄" means "to wash" and "Senmen 洗面", "washing the face".
