  • @ssureshot thanx! I'm so getting this -- love the production! it's so weird & cool! lol and the choir is awesome!

  • @FoxyStealth You can read the review at

amazon dot com-the producer was deliberately trying to remind his audience that all music is always contemporaneous -it applies to the world we actually have before us; so he puts a 21st century appearance on it. The play acting is done very effectively in my opinion especially with 'the people that once walked in darkness"

  • Perfect choir, wonderful expression and dynamics, I found the DVD on amazon.

    "Handel Messiah Richard Croft"

  • Having just discovered this version of The Messiah this year, I'll say that it's the standard by which I'll compare all future performances . . . just magnificent, both in the music and the bringing of the story to life.

  • This must be the "staging" I read about in Opera News. Very bizarre.

  • This is just surreal to me. The musical performance is stunningly good, but I can't understand what the visuals are trying to accomplish. Maybe if I sat down and watched the whole thing I might figure it out, though I suspect I might not like what the makers were trying for. Oh, well.

Need to stop ogling cute altos, too.

  • Actors today feel they are underpaid, so you'll see this type of uncooperative behavior more and more. Deal with it.

  • what is the story behind this? I'm having a hard time gathering...

  • The presentation of this Messiah performance is quite secular it's adaptation, but the performance of the music was truly spiritual and angelic. The best performance of the Messiah I have ever encountered.

  • @MiesjeBouwman I found it on Blu Ray at Amazon. amazon.com/Handel-Messiah-Blu-ray-Susan-Gritton/dp/B003UIGZMG
