@craig4fsu I have one and it's actually a very quiet compressor. But if your pickups are buzzing, it will boost that sound in the absence of any music.

LETS HERE SOME DISTORTION WITH IT

Hey what year is your Rick? I have a '72 i inheritied from my father, best bass ever made but the stereo output is broken, the neck pickup is out, and the frets are completely worn. I need to send it back to Rickenbacker to overhaul it, ever dealt with them?
-
@Fuzzbot71 That makes sense. not really a big deal since its quiet when off right?
-
This demo has just confirmed my G.A.S. for one of these! Looks like i better get on the waiting list!
Not that noisy! Rics tend to hum a bit if you stand right close to the amp anyway.

@craig4fsu I have to say that the Diamond is IMO the best sounding compressor I've ever used. I've owned quite a few compressors (including the Ross), and the Diamond is definitely "IT"! The Barber "Tone Press" is the next best thing. Some prfer the Barber over the Diamond - and with good reason. You just can't beat the Barber TP for the $!
-
@craig4fsu Oh,cheaper than the wampler too.I looked at those as well.
-
@AlembicVapor Funny you mention that.I bought a tone press a while back and its a very quiet pedal.Cheaper than the diamond and much cheaper than the analogman.
-
@craig4fsu Not the Barber Tone Press.
This is what all compressor demo's should be like (heck, it's what ALL PEDAL demo's should be like).

Noisy pedal at idle.

All compressors are as they essentially ride the volume up when the signal isn't loud enough to trigger the gain reduction. My bass has single coil pickups as well which just compounds the noise even more.
