This song is very sweet when taken out of the context of the show. Henshall and Barrowman make a fantastic pair.

OOH When Ruthie sings 'Hell' I get shivers!!! Is it just me or does Ruthie sound like Alice Ripley here? Gotta love these two brits! (John is Scottish) They NEEEEEEEEED to do like everything together! They are soooooo perfect vocally! And Ruthie.... omg.... she has such a fantastic and distinct voice! I love these guys soooooooo much :) x

Wow! Even taken out of context the song is still has that great creepy stalker vibe. It's one of my favorite Sondheim numbers in the original just because of how twisted and fucked up it is.

That was so pretty!
The only criticism I have is the way they say "darling" over and over in place of the names. It sounds kind of awkward, especially when you know how the song really goes. Or at least, it does to me.
But I thin, Ruthie and John are great together. Their voices work so well combined.

It's because Putting it Together uses Sondheim to create an own story, so this suddenly becomes a slightly strange lovesong rather than beautiful and creepy as it was in Assassins :)
