Violent racism in St Petersburg - 26 Feb 08

I've been watching the videos online here and like most of the viewers, I'm really disgusted at what's going on. However, America has much of the same history as well. So, Americans should not look down at what's going on in Russia. I like to travel and one of the places I've always wanted to visit was Russia but I'm a bit concerned that I'll be discriminated against cause of the color of my skin (African-American). Its really a shame; Russia has so much potential. Is this still a problem?

Why would you go to St. Petersburg, especially alone? I'm not suggesting that this sort of outward of expression or bigotry and violence is an everyday thing but I think there's something to all of this. I don't want to scare you or anything but I don't think its a good idea to go there, especially alone. These thugs attack men, women and children; no one is immune! This is not sensationalism. In fact, the government has realized for a long time that Russia had a hate problem. Do your research!

I feel really disgraced. My grandfather fought Nazis during the World War II. He protected my yet non-born parents, myself and all the next generations. He survived (thanks God) that War...to see this shit happening in the country he was defending...

I will NEVER support those fascists calling themselves "Pure Russians". They are just animals seeking for innocents blood. They disgrace all Russian people that remember what their ancestors died for.

Russians aren't even pure white. Hitler didn't like Russians. He wanted to conquer Russia. Many Russians died protecting their country from Nazi scum. I bet many of the dead Russian WW2 vets are rolling in their graves right now. How come many Russians want to become skinheads than? I don't understand it.
What about all the Russians living in England, Canada, the U.S. and some of the Asian countries. How about we kick the Russians out too and tell them to go back to Russia.
