I myself own the original copy of this cassette, purchased at the carousel a long time ago when the carousel actually sold cassettes of its own Ruth organ music, but due to a mislabeling I once believed that I did not own this volume. I did receive a cassette-to-cassette copy of this volume at one time from somebody due to this mistaken belief, but when I listened to this generously-provided copy I realized I already owned that volume, because the case indicating the volume number had gone missing. I recorded this song from my original cassette I purchased and have owned for at least 15-20 years.
Regarding this situation, I would implore somebody to do one thing for me so that the authenticity of my original copy of "Volume 1" is assured. Please take your own cassette copy of "Volume 1" from your music library collection and make a cassette-to-cassette copy of it using the same equipment you used to create the copy you provided to me. The newly-created copy in your hands will thus have approximately the same audio quality as the cassette you gave to me. Then, listen to the quality of that cassette copy and compare it to the HD-quality of the music on this YouTube page. You should find that the audio quality of this YouTube video far exceeds the audio quality of your cassette-to-cassette copy by a significant margin, a margin that would preclude the possibility of me equalizing, mastering, or otherwise digitally enhancing a recording of the tape you gave to me. My own tape was hidden in a dark place for some time, not inside its original case, and it did not age very much, so the audio quality is superb. In fact, it greatly exceeded the audio quality of the tape copy you gave to me. It was my own bought-and-owned tape that I used to create this YouTube video and to sell some CD copies on eBay several years ago, and the only reason I ever requested Volume 1 from you was because I thought the cassette I discovered in my collection was not Volume 1 at all. It was a labeling issue, and it has been resolved.
I did not appreciate the remarks directed towards me involving the sale of CD copies on eBay. In this situation, it seemed NOBODY knew the provenance of these recordings; neither EP City Hall, nor the Carousel Commission, nor the Carousel itself. I would have welcomed a legal challenge to my sale of these copies on eBay since it would have meant somebody with some original documentation and jurisdiction could have provided me more information about this series of recordings as well as copies of the volumes which are missing from my collection. As it stands, though, it seemed NOBODY created these tapes; they seemed to magically spring out of thin air, and after all my research I figured I had every right to sell copies on eBay. I never sold, nor comtemplated selling, copies of any cassettes I received from other people. I only sold cassette-to-CD copies of the tapes I actually physically purchased and owned myself. The "Volume 1" problem was a labeling issue as I said, and while I understand there may have been some anger over my apparent selling of something given to me in good faith by someone else, this anger was in fact due to an "optical illusion," a "jumping to conclusions," anger that was not based on someone having all the facts, but rather assuming that because something appeared to be so, it was so. IT WAS NOT SO. I am not a cheat, a fraud, or a liar, and I do not appreciate the insinuation that I am such.
The organ currently needs some repairs, restorations, and the like. I do not endorse, in any way, its current condition. I love the organ, but I do not love what has become of the organ.
