@liftdude On electronics panels it's for make the difference between the letter and the number

Schindler doesn't typically use X, EX, EZ, etc. for travel through express zones. They just skip to the next served floor (Westinghouse did this too). The company seems to have this fascination with making their elevators seem faster than they really are, partially due to the fact that people will feel like they're not spending so much time in the elevator.
