I read about this it is a genetically enhanced triploid that escaped from a farm pen in Canada, they actually had many escape, it continued to grow in a natural lake before being caught and was still considered a world record anyway by the IGFA which I think is bull, his brother actually caught a 43 pound world record a year or two earlier and now this was even bigger...

MOBY DICK stocked, hybrid or triploid most of you haters would crap in your britches if you caught that and so would I !

@DrY23FliES It is a Rainbow Trout and it holds the world record weight, therefore it is the world record Rainbow Trout...
-
@bushwackersftw ummm its a hybrid farm fish...its not wild or a true world record...did you notice how they they caught around 20 of them over 30 pounds...

Im pretty sure that was a stocked fed fish that found its way into the river, and if im not mistaken it was caught at flaming gorge?
-
@fergie1653 "It's a native fish, it still has it's fin" No it isnt. You're thinking of broodstock rainbows, non-sterile trout, planted in streams to reproduce. Here in california, all the stocker rainbows have their adipose fin.

@fishguru73 No way, these triploids have very little fight. it's like snagging a bowling ball.. They dont jump or do anything but swim in the other direction.

Ugly ass triploid. Tastes like shit, too.

I never new trout grow this big, I thought they only grow like bass size

@DrY23FliES Yes, clearly that is a fake fish, a toy.
Are there no rules definiing a real trout? If not, then it's easy to design a high elevation lake on the equator for an endless growing season. The lake would be designed for a slow swimming forage fish. The next step is to stock a low number of triploid trout already grown to a size where they are piscivorous.. Finally a turbine is installed to pull water through a trap to feed injured forage fish to the trout. This can be found below some dams. Now does that sound fair to you guys?

It's a triploid rainbow but how does that negate the skill of the angler who put in the time to learn how and where to catch the fish? People get really snippy over BS details but don't like it when they've been outdone at their own game. I love wild trout fishing, even small fish in pocket water streams, but anybody would be happy to land this fish.
