The Red team got so desperate that they wne tback in time to kill the Blu team's top scorer, the spy. By doing this they shifted the battle to their favor, but then allowed Valve to add the yellow team in an update.

cnc 4 had a terrible storyline admittedly, but the gaming style was pretty neat for replacing mass rushes with actual strategizing.

@RainingMetal Oh ya I forgot to mention Generals. Generals was probably the most consistent and the most well rendered one in the entire franchise. It also bears the greatest resemblance to reality, which is why I like it more so than any other series.
The good old days of CnC are over with the advent of CnC4. An almost perfect storyline turned sour in a heartbeat. Horrific ending that left everyone ajaw with terrible feeling of incompleteness. Well at least ... CnC3 and RA3 are masterpieces ...

Sometimes I wish I were in charge of EA and make things right.

@RainingMetal I played the CnC series since its very first installment - CnC1, a time when game graphics are still mostly pixellated and were displayed in 16-bit colors. I endured every single subsequent installment in the franchise since then - moving on to CnC1: counterstrike, RA1, its expansions then to CnC2, RA2, CnC3 then finally RA3. A good start is only half of success, yet the onus of bringing a good finish to bridge the joints ended in nothing than a cheap knockoff such as CnC4's ending

I also played C&C quite early (since Red Alert 1, I focused on the Red Alert series more than the Tiberium series). Personally, I would have expanded Red Alert 3 a bit more before moving onto the next C&C game (Generals 2?).
