  • Even though both are basically the same Kung Fu intro's, yank mates who actually saw the programme when it originally aired in American said the version posted on the right side of this page by youtuber "creativelocation" is what they remember best. Cheers!

  • I saw the original broadcasts here in California. This was one of the openings. They had at least two different intro's. They also edited them for syndication. This post is edited, I think. It's been a long time since I've seen the full version.

  • Go to the one "bugle" mentions below and is also show at the right of the screen from creativelocation. From what people say, that's the long and better version.

  • You are right. That is better!

  • Why do you guys keep saying Bruce Lee would have made the show even better?

Bruce lee would have made the show more realistic when it comes to fighting, but no way would have kept the poetic aspect of this series.

Who remembers KungFu for the quality of the fights? not me!

I liked it because of the calm, serenity of the caracters and the "avoid fighting at any cost" thread beneath it.

It was a non violent movie, and Lee would have made it more brutal and aggressive.

  • It's also where people are saying it sounds a lot like the main melody in Steve Vai's song For the Love of God. Including me.

  • Loved this show as a kid. Still have the gum cards somewhere.

  • Ah yes, this intro brings me back. Watched Kung Fu when it was in syndication. Had to get up pretty early in the morning on a Saturday (6:00 or 7:00 AM i believe) to watch it on TNT.

  • sorta liked it but it WAS a little bit boring in reality

  • fucking classic

  • Several people have posted about Bruce Lee being in the role of David Carradine. In actuality, the series was loosely based on Bruce Lee and a chapter in his life where he was unable to return to Honk Kong because of an incident.

From what I recall: He was at a party, about 3 or 4 British sailors showed up and a fight ensued. One of the guys pulled a knife, Lee killed him and then fled. The Limey was related to someone high up and Lee was a wanted man for some number of years.

  • What still boggles me is how the dragon tattoo never lasted after he emigrated to the states. Gotta have been the change of air - or something to that effect

  • @rubenramirezmd i would agree

  • No way would a series like this make it in today's shallow marketplace. No fuckin' way.

  • @rubenramirezmd the fight scenes would have been better with Bruce Lee. That I know for a fact. David new nothing of Kung Fu.

  • The scene at 2:01 is classic
