Although Protestants are usually considered to be more "biblically based" than Catholics, in reality it is the converse that is true. In truth the manner whereby most Protestants interpret John 6 is simply par for the course with the manner in which they interpret the entire Bible. When it comes to literal Biblical exegesis, it is almost always the Catholics who take the words of Our Lord in the Gospels literally when engaged in a doctrinal disputes with Protestants.

  • Funny how this video uses the song "How Beautiful" by Twila Paris, a non-Catholic.

  • @samjang, funny? Last time I checked, we were all worshiping the same God...Is there a problem?

  • it is SICK when the "preist" on a WEEKLY basis DEMANDS CHRIST off the cross (he is ALREADY off the CROSS) and come down to an 'alter' & RE-sacrifice himself every SUNday... this is just the basics of why this practice is WRONG. SATAN has infiltrated the catholic "church" LONG AGO & this is just ANOTHER reason to KNOW that to be TRUE!

  • @eatatmargos, it is in fact what Jesus said to do at the last supper. It is what the first Christians did, and it is still what we do today. You've been listening to too much "television religion" that will say anything to get viewers...

  • Eatatmar gos is dumb. Obviously he doesnt know Catholic and Biblical doctrine!

  • What do you say to the claim by some that this is ritualized cannabalism? The claim that catholics r eating the literal body & blood of a man seems, on reflection, a very bizarre claim & an odd ritual. I realize it is a common place act of faith & devotion which people take for granted, as it is a part of the doctrine but, in thinking about the actual act, its unsettling.

  • @eatatmargos We do not believe that Christ is being sacrificed agin and a agin each weekend (and every day at daily Mass). We believe that what the priest does, in the person of Christ, at the altar makes Jesus's sacrifice present to us. We jive God simple gifts of bread and wine so that He may send His Spirit to make them the body and blood of Jesus. it re-presents His atoning sacrifice. We are just doing what Christ commanded; "....do this in memory of me (so that I remain in your midst)".

  • "Christ held Himself in His hands when He gave His Body to His disciples saying: 'This is My Body.' No one partakes of this Flesh before he has adored it."

    - St. Augustine

"I hunger for the bread of God, the flesh of Jesus Christ ...; I long to drink of his blood, the gift of unending love."

    - St. Ignatius of Antioch

  • @eatatmargos In the Old Testament, Covenants were always renewed, some on a yearly basis, some more often. The New Covenant is also demanded to be renewed, and on a daily basis. Jesus Christ does not have another earthly body to sacrifice on the cross again, that is why he comes to us and feeds us with His Risen Body under the appearance of bread and wine. This has been prefigured in the manna, the Bread of the Presence, and in the Passover. Jesus = High Priest - Order of Melchezadek.

  • I think that the Eucharist was so central to Christs ministry that it was spelled out in John Chapter 6 vs 32-40 and then again vs 44-51....and then again at the last supper. Here is a thought experiment..when the Jews during passover got "passed over" They had to have a sacrificial, "unblemished" (it can't be a true sac. unless it's blood) "lamb" whose blood was shed and sprinkled "to save from the angel of death" on the "doorposts" and then...the lamb was CONSUMED. Definate parallels w/Jesus.
