  • @Cimbolic - So drawing Mo, which no really knows what he looks like, is irrational? Don't you think perhaps if all American got into F15 fighter jets & B52 Bombers & stating bombing Islamic countries over a cartoon is irrational vs. people drawing a questionable mythical figure? And how is asking CC to air the original footage any different than people drawing Mo?

  • @PropheciesofWar

I would say the first is massive overreation.

And the second would presumably be free of prejudiced material and raw insult.

  • Standing united is strength not weakness, protesting CC into demanding they show it uncensored creates one target, having everyone draw Mohamed creates a united stance. You can bomb a building you cant blow up 12000 scattered individuals. Islams zealots have to learn they are in the wrong to become angry and homicidal over non believers disobeying their laws, you suggest they have this right. Its western people that are tolerant of this tyranny that gives zealots the resolve to be violent.

  • cimbolic: just as a request can you increase the volume of your videos. I still feel like the volume is low when i have it on the full :(

  • What do terrorists want? They want "moderate Muslims" and apologists to stay silent in their condemnations of violence but to speak up when someone is offending the cranky, barbarous child.

Mohammad (Pandemonium Descend Upon Him) was a warmongering pedophile and the world should treat his followers accordingly.

  • Draw Muhammad Day was not an "atheist" event. it was an expression of the non-negotiable right of free speech. very simply put: no-one can tell me what to say, draw, think, sing, sculpt or compose, whether he's a "Brooklyn rapper" or self-appointed sheikh. cowardice in the face of bullying only empowers the bully. read up on "Peace in our time."

  • @TheOddGoat

"they'd need to attack people who eat pork too"

Depicting Muhammad is a special case. I'm not talking about respect for their beliefs. I advocate respecting our fellow human beings. I don't mean the extremists, I mean the ordinary Muslims.

  • @Cimbolic

Respecting their belief = not making them draw Mohammed.

For their outrage to have any consistency they'd need to attack people who eat pork too - the tasty bacon might be too tempting for them.

The race based images should probably have made a different page though, that kind of obfuscates the point because part of it is that being a muslim isn't like being white, black, asian, hispanic etc because its a choice.

  • @Cimbolic - well since you brought up "insult," what does insult mean? Is it not subjective? The fact remains, as far as we know no one was killed by Draw Mohamed Day. If we were to make speech clear of "insult" and "objection" we would not have free speech. It would boil down to grade school mannerisms of "my feelings are hurt . . . waaaaaaaaa" To quote Larry Flynt, "freedom of speech isn't about protecting the speech you want to hear, it is about protecting the speech you don't want to hear."

  • @Cimbolic Yeah, but don't you think Viacom knew the drama that would unfold have they aired the uncensored episode? And they having the experience with these kind of things decided it was not worth the trouble. Especially given the current circumstances?. I agree with their pragmatism on this one. I don't think freedom of speech is in not way, not even close threatened. Quite the opposite, there has never been so much freedom of speech as we enjoy today. People have to always look at the context

  • @Lucem2

Airing the uncensored version is what should have occurred, but much has happened since then. lots of emotional heat. So I agree there needs to be a cooling off period.
