This video is a video demonstration* of a Yurchenko repulsion ('block') drill discussed in the article "Teaching a great Yurchenko layout vault" Gym Coach Journal Vol 5, 2011. (video discussion read on)
There are multiple variations of this drill, with various setups and lead-ons.
*Note: This video is not meant to serve as a perfect example, but rather as a demonstration. The gymnast in the video makes several errors in his performance of this drill. Aside from the obvious form errors such as the bend in the knees on in the BHS flight phase, he impact the mat with a slightly close shoulder angle, a slightly high (close to vertical) entry, and a slow body shape change from tight arch to straight/ hollow. These errors equate to him blocking after the vertical Handstand position, instead of closer to handstand or at handstand which would give him a much more vertical lift. However as an instructional demonstration is serves a fine purpose.
