With the current high water in the rivers, it's lake season in Montana right now. This is a good pattern to imitate emerging chironomids, the main hatch in many area lakes.

Hook: 1xl nymph or dry, #12-20.
Thread: 8/0 black Uni.
Tail/Head: white synthetic of your choice.
Abdomen: black Uni-Stretch or other material that will lay flat and smooth.
Rib: Fine silver wire.
Thorax: peacock herl.
Wing: bunch of grizzly hen hackle fibers.

  • Nice fly, that should do well anywhere. Never seen the Uni stretch before, thanks for that.
