If anything could be offered as proof that the debate is simply between reasonable people and unreasonable people it is the title of this debate. Any reasonable person could not seriously be for the motion that atheism is a fundamentalist movement. Just because religious people are trying to rebrand their god as some sort of human consciousness does not change the fact that religion is a force that dumbs down people's intellect and suffocates rationality.

@dochboga I understand. And to hell I may go but to the bottom of peoples hearts is where I'll stray.

Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the light. No one can come to the Father except through ME."

I'm probably gonna get flamed but, I'm christian. I believe god and jesus. But I also believe that people can be jewish, muslim, athiest, whatever. Nobody knows, but we all believe.

Oh please, people should thinking that religion answer "why" questions. Religion answers no questions, it does not seek the truth. Rather, it is philosophy that might be accountable for that, but not religion.

Man cannot create a worm yet he will create gods by the dozen.

I am an atheist, but I'm sad that the discussion in the comments is still between two fundamentalist sides - yes, also the atheists. It is very easy to point at creationism and therefore say religion is wrong. I understand you may feel cornered by religious fundamentalists throwing scripture at you, but as long as you don't rise above that, you're not doing a better job at the debate than they are.

@Lavere2009 You said "Hey you abandon Gods laws, don't expect to benefit from his morals of his laws."
You must be referring to stoning your unruly children to death, or possibly murdering anyone who works on the sabbath. Of course, we can't forget that the Bible clearly indicates that you should utilize discretion when beating your slaves. If you do beat them so severely that they die....make sure they last "a day or two" so that you have done nothing wrong. God prefers a lingering death.

@HerrSchnabeltier I will admit the term "militant atheists" or even "irrational atheists", but "fundamental atheists"? I was under the impression fundamentalism has to do with total adherence to a certain set of ideas, but since these ideas are not concentrated in any single text I have problems welcoming the term. I mean, atheist is quite hard to define plainly much less a fundamental branch. I don't say we cannot be irrational, or even rude douchebags, but fundamentalists? Explain, please.
Atheists win again :P

I love that christians needed to create "fundamentalist atheists" just so then they could look more sane.
