Multiple 50MW solar thermal power plants now online in Spain have capacity factors above 40%, via thermal energy storage. Thermal storage is vastly cheaper and more efficient than electricity storage -- you're storing heat before it hits the turbine.
Solar as a horrible capacity factor. What does this mean? Basically you are only going to reach 1000MW 20 percent of the time. Nuclear on the other hand has a 90 percent capacity factor.
Most, if not all base load power plant has to have a capacity factor of 90%. Solar could certainly work as a supplement but CANNOT replace Coal or Nuclear. Simple science folks, sorry to burst your bubble.
Clean coal? And side walks of the ghetto are germ free. Yeah right. Coal and Nuclear industry are trying to keep their business going because it is a business. They don't care about you. They care about their money. For that my vote goes to solar. It works in San Diego and I bet it can work in any sunny place in the world.
Urge your representative in congress to take action and support REAL solutions to the climate crisis that will create green jobs and build our economy. You can do this at projecthotseat . org

He was surprised by the lack of support he was getting in Australia ... sadly I'm not.
