Today, I'll take you (rather swiftly) through how to setup your first Wordpress blog, in less than 4 minutes. I'll also show you how to change the Wordpress theme, and publish your first blog post, with a picture included.
I use bluehost.com for my web-hosting and domain services, however there are many others out there with the same capabilities that you may use if you choose to do so.

@Openpress - You'll find this marketing ploy used by most hosting companies, even Hostgator. It's the norm.

Its actually a marketing ploy, they bill you for the entire year immediately after you sign up $83.40 or so NOT monthly if you want monthly its around $10 and its also additional $10 for the privacy thing. As someone new to start out I was surprised and disappointed. I will look into the Gator hosting company.

Great stuff, I too am still learning how to set up a blog. I also am using bluehost.com/track/ericeric They are great. Ever time I needed help, they were there for me.

That was awesome! Last year paid a considerable sum of money for someone to make (a quite mediocre) Wordpress site. I just didn't know how to get started. I have some ideas for additional blogs--now I know I can do it myself. Thank you!

So bluehost cost $7 a month. Are there additional charges? Does it cost anything for the word-press...or is the total cost for the creation of that blog $7 a month?

@aschmittish Bluehost is $7/month (and actually if you buy two years worth it's only $6 a month), and you don't NEED anything else. There are upgrades for security and protection, but you don't need those things. The only other thing I can justify paying for is the extra $4.95 (i think, not monthly though) for domain privacy so your name and address doesn't show when someone looks up the owner of the website.
