I've been trying to do one myself, and It's only a fraction as good as this...

  • hi annaarkadyevna .. a little practice every day! have fun M:)

  • Were you aware that this ancient song was recited in 'Lark Rise to Candleford'; only slightly different in lyrics without the verses after her return to her father's house? The author says that in the 1880's 'it was out of date, even then, and only tolerated because of (the singer's) his age' - an old man of 83 who had learned the song from his grandfather, and he from his grandfather in turn. Wonderful to hear it, I thank you so much for bringing it to life.

  • Thanks Amanda.. no I didn't.. I bought the vinyl of LRtoCF a few years ago in Chester for £10.00.. and haven't played it yet!! what a great story.. thanks for dropping in and writing.. Mike

  • A very 'traditional' traditional song. Vocals fine, guitar - well does ever Mike have a bad day in the guitar department - of course he doesn't! Perhaps not the most accessible song he's ever done for the casual listener/viewer but I like it.

Ted's right foot looks swollen, but it could be just the camera angle, I hope she's OK.

  • thank you NNN Nic really was a brilliant and authentic artist, cheers :)

  • I am really sorry, I don't read music or tabs, I learnt this years ago, listening to Nick Jones, a well known English Folk singer. I just learnt to play in it dad gad and just let my fingers do the work. I wish I could help. Glad you enjoyed the song. M
