As a professional singer, I have found it very difficult over the years to find a way to combat respiratory, sinus and throat ailments, especially in the lead up to a gig. Horrible, costly and anxiety ridden time. It's been so difficult in fact that doctors wanted to operate to widen my sinuses and nasal passages. I've tried every drug known to man to stave off colds, flu, sore throats, coughs, but now I think I have found the next best thing to a cure for the common cold. And I will now perform this method when I feel a cold start to come on. It's also great to relief symptoms of allergies.

It's called Sinus (or Nasal) Irrigation. It just means you flush out your sinuses with lukewarm salt water. The salt must be sea salt or kosher salt but NEVER ordinary table salt, as there's other things in there that can damage your sinuses. Sea salt and kosher salt are pure.

I found this method in the middle of the night, on the computer desperately searching for something to make me feel better and to save my voice for 2 gigs coming up in 2 days time. I watched a few You Tube videos and since I had sea salt in the cupboard and an old water bottle to hand, put it into practice straight away. Immediately I felt relief. After 2 days of doing this 3 times a day I feel confident about my gigs. First one is tomorrow. I have no snotting, sneezing, coughing. Still got a bit of a sore throat 2 days later, which I am taking paracetamol for. I feel confident that I will get through my gigs, with the aid of sinus irrigation whilst I still have this cold.

Don't spend a fortune on over the counter remedies that do naff all but make you skint. Try this. It's brilliant.

PS. It's an ancient method practiced for thousands of years by Indians and by yoga experts.

  • lmao thanks i tried it and i felt much better =)

  • Thanks for a no-nonsense cheap way to deal with this problem. Am a singer but am so plagued by sinus trouble at the moment that singing is painful and nasty. Hopefully this will do the trick.
