...also joining (the pointless) heated conversation. Estonia is one of a few countries among almost 300 which people has a strong patriotic feeling in their hearts without exaggerated demagogy only to show off.
This patriotism preserved their identity even with so many invasions through the history. And expressed wisely via so many songs.
It is easier to understand just by wathing to the documentary " The Singing Revolution"
Joining heated conversation...well, this song has nothing to do with these images, it could be anything instead...song itself is really nice and patriotic, I do not think autor was inspired by waffen ss ;) I was born in Estonia, and my blood is heavily mixed with estonians, most of my family are estonians, so I feel for Estonia very much...I can easily imagen red army estonians through this song...
@St6mm It is an amazing fact that the identity of the Estonian people associated with the Waffen SS and crimes against humanity in Russia, Ukraine, Belarus and Poland.
You give me one unfortunate example and then come here and start talking that many of them?
Then entire Russian population should condemn for the crimes against the humanity from the last thousand years. War after war, massacres after massacres, genocides against little nations, killing their identities. Look into the mirror, you can see the face of the TRUE repressor of the human kind.
When you can't accept your people crimes then you don't have no right to accuse other.
@St6mm Of course not all the legions of Estonian SS were guilty of such crimes, but too many of them. And they all have collective responsibility for these crimes. Even the Germans have a collective responsibility in the outbreak of World War II. It is through such agreements, peace is possible in Europe the past 65 years. I am also sure that it is the Russian soldiers humanizing Germans before the world. The more the Wehrmacht conquered, the more they look the animals.
