(From:Robert Beacham, aka "beachnyc") At the start of Winter 1982/3, Bill Walker (of WSOC-TV 9, Charlotte, NC) introduces a story by Phyllis Burke concerning the phenomenon of "Snow Babies". Co-anchor Doreen Gentzler and Meterologist Jerry Peterson appear briefly at the end.

That's Doreen chuckling off-camera during Bill Walker's introduction to this story. And listen carefully: Doreen's mic is still open as the story first rolls and you can hear her say "Un-huh!!". (Sorry about the rather abrupt end to this clip, but that's where the tape ended.)

  • I interviewed Doreen for a journalism class when I was at UNCC. Nice as she could be, very positive person. I was somewhat nervous about taking her time for a class project, but she was all for it and made me feel comfortable. I got a good interivew, and an "A" in journalism.
