"Ivoroid inlays, Lollars, TonePros, Sperzels, Collings. Props to you."
-Phil Miller, a musician with a narrating style that's finer-than-froghair.-

The way the guitar sounds and the way the pick-ups are described, it almost makes you want to literally take a small bit e out of their mini chocolate bar shape and taste them.

@jazmanning Poorly made single coils give the good ones a bad name. I've got a Giffin Model T and unless I'm near something with a pronounced field like a fluorescent light, then I don't notice any hum at all. You always pay a price with a humbucker, and that price is phase cancellation of some of the highest frequencies due to the two coils "seeing" the string at a slightly different place along the scale length. Jason Lollar is one of the best pcikup makers, and prefers P-90's for a reason.

Hi Phil. Always Excellent reviews from you!! I had just bought a Gibson P-90 Single Cut Special with the binding around the neck., and a solid piece of Mahogany for the body. Of course the see thru burgundy red!! I love it! How would you compare this Collins to the Gibson? I actually stole mine from Guitar Center at $700.00 with a Case!! I never really thought P 90s would actually get you hearing, and feeling the tone of your Guitar much more then Hums! Not for Metallica, or Megadeth though LoL

I have a Vintage White 290 with a Bigsby. This video helped influence the purchase. Incredibly sweet! The weight/feel of it - is just right. I can't walk into a guitar store and enjoy most new electric guitars now. I'm ruined!

I went to their website, but couldn't find prices. How much does the first one he played go for?

If anyone wants to hear more of Phil Miller's playing, visit the youtube videos of the band Sonia Dada, who Phil performed with live with during 1995. Some well chosen solos and phrasing, as always. He really has a unique and refreshing style, and is a professional musician.

What is the headstock angle on these babies?
-
what is the neck shape like?

Looks like a nice guitar, but they want *crazy* money for it for what it is - a slab-sided les paul jr copy, undoubtedly with better workmanship than gibson, though.
But gibson isn't the bar to shoot for any longer. They just make thoughtless mediocre commodity guitars and charge more than a custom maker would.

Have to admit that's the best I've heard those P90's sound!
I wish someone would review the 360 ALL Mahogany version. It's a totally different sound than the 360 with Maple cap...

how much the 290 cost...aprox.? thx
Great!
Are the lollar p90's hum canceling?
If not then how bad would the hum be if the guitar was used as a studio axe?

the Lollar 90's are not hum canceling...

a few things...TV Yellow was used because dead white would flare out the tubes in the old cameras. (hey! used my degree!)
Also the tuners are pronounced Shpairts-ul...I talked to Mrs. Sperzel and she's way German--scolded me for dropping my umlaut.
Love your style, sounds great , but what AMP are we hearing it thru?
My first custom guitar is coming soon with many of the same appointments--I'm salivating hearing this, thanks.
where are you located? May want to have you do a review !

Phil reviewed 3 Collings guitars and they were ALL spectacular. We haven't had a bad guitar in for review yet. More to come from Collings, Wilkins, Fender, EVH, MusicMan and Godin... Stay tuned
