the problem with the guys swing is probably his posture. in order to stay balanced in the "flamingo" drill, you need to have good posture. the best option for that guy would be to stare at himself in a mirror and make sure he has the correct posture at address. otherwise you change the radius of the swing (or the low point) and have to compensate in other manners, including wrist movement, elbow movement and more.
The problem with that drill is also the effect of grounded and topped hitting of the ball with one foot only. Still there is a long way to do the remedy. The short remedy is the "body memory" method. Before hitting the ball at address, think and FULLY MEMORIZE the distance of the head/chin from the ball, including how the arm is extended , and never move the head/chin up or down upon backswing down to the downswing and impact of the club and the ball.
Then, if there is topped hit, just move the chin/head a little downwards. If there is grounded hit, move the chin/head a little upwards. And, fully memorize the adjustments being made. This is what I call "body or muscle memory"
I was playing a tournament this past fall and saw a guy who actually stood like this taking his shots during the round. I just thought he was weird, now i see whre he got it
Isn't this the central theme of stack and tilt golf? (more weight on the front foot?)
