  • Thank you for all the videos mantic.

I've used the Gillette Sensor for 8-9 years now and just getting into safety razors.

Concerning aftershave, I am a die-hard Old Spice user. Could you recommend any suitable replacements that are non-alcoholic? I would like to stop using alcohol based aftershaves as I do think that in time my skin would become less soft. Or is it possible to mix a bit of old spice in a neutral smelling balm to get the same effect?

  • @muzeitgeist yes, mixing a bit of old spice w/balm should work fine!

  • my husband has tried electric razors and cartridge razors only to b displeased..he doesnt have a thick beard, but the hair he does have is coarse especially lower chin area..i am buying him a shaving set for val day, i am looking @ the merkur progress would this b a good choice for a newbie to safety razors..thnx for your help

  • anglwyngz - A Progress is a good razor but make sure he doesn't dial it up more than halfway for the first few months of use. A common mistake new Progress users have is the tendancy to "dial it up to 11" thinking it will give them a closer shave. They always pay for it....

  • thanks so much for your quick reply..Would u suggest I buy him a different razor to start with and if so which one..

  • anglwyngz- A Progress would be fine as long as you caution him not to turn it up past half-scale on the dial. Other good 'beginner' razors include the Merkur Heavy Duty and the Weishi. Or check with old relatives to see if they have a vintage Gillette razor still laying around? :)

  • allnamesaretaken4- you just wouldn't understand kid.....shaving is a man tradition and one of the most ritualistic things we men do. It deserves attention to detail. Mantic does a fantastic job at making people realize how great a close, enjoyable shave can be.

So, with that said, grow a pair, and maybe you'll understand.

  • @GSU2727 Definitely upvoted. If more young men understood the time tested traditions that men do, and how important we keep them alive, there would be less "gender confusion" in the world. Yes, I'm being nice.
