in the first few years of his career, he didnt have the best supporting cast but there was character and leadership that he needed to protect and guide him, guys like oak, mussy, d.curry, willis, jackson and davis. all those guys lead vc in the right direction and we were able to flashes of his brillance but once those guys were gone, we saw vc just let himself go cuz no one was there to cuss him out or challenge him. after lenny wilkins, the raps had no one that could command respect from vc.
