The fair has a rule that the vendors can't sell mass produced items. This booth has always looked like they don't have to follow that rule. I've never understood it. But they are priced as if they were hand crafted hats.

That was the booth rule, not the fair's rule. Scarborough lets its booth owners set many of their own policies, so if you disagree with one owner please don't assume all the other shop owners are the same. I'm sorry if that took you off-guard, but I hope you give the rest of the fair a chance as well, it's really one of the best fairs in the country.

Did you think it's not the Faire's rules but the vendors rules? It is their booth.

I go every year. There is no rule like that, you are alowed to try on or to take pictures. They like it. Free advertising.

i used to work there... its kind of a shitty place.

That's retarded.. I can understand if you're taking pictures in poses that might harm the merchandise, they made the stuff themselves (looks like it's mass bought in this stand), or maybe even if it's a product that they don't want a picture taken of and copied without even being bought. Luckily I can't afford 3/4 of the stuff at the faire, so I don't even bother to try on, haha

Great PR. Ok, people, the Minnesota Renaissance Festifal is NOT like this.
-
If it was an actual local artisan I could understand the reaction, but that looks like a imported, mass-produced coolie hat...

Did you look at the rules for the VENDOR? Some of the vendors specifically have signage requesting that no pictures be taken when you're just messing around and trying stuff on.
I was taking snapshots of the fair buildings and the costumed performers. I saw that my friends at the hat shop. I switched the camcorder over to video. So what you see in this video is exactly what I saw and heard at the hat shop as it happened in real time. I turned the cam off and walked away. If there where rules about not taking pictures before buying I never saw a sign that said you could or could not. Its vendors like this that make me not want to go back.

@SirRichardBear I checked the Scarborough Ren Fair website and there was nothing that said you have to buy before you take a picture. In the FAQ they encouraged taking pictures and videos. Next point, you do not know me at all so DON'T say I was acting like a jerk.
