Now I forund a Vaio PCG-933A in the dumpster the other day. Gonna take it to the laptop store today to get a power adapter to see if it works.

i have a Vaio PCG-VX88P and it runs windows fine. not sure what your prob is. i dont like linux.

COOL! So If I just find Puppy Linux online? or someplace and do I need to put something else on it before loading the Linux? Is there a vaio file to load first?

Very unlikely that Linux would have killed the backlight. I assume the backlight doesn't work with Windows either. Most likely the fluorescent bulb or the inverter has died.

It's been a while since I worked with this laptop, but I believe all that I did was to get Puppy linux and install it. I don't recall having any serious problems. Can't hurt to give it a try.
