Perkele does not mean devil or satan, it's name of the main god in finnish ancient religion. Nowadays it's used as a powerful swear word, it really sounds that you mean business when you say it. Unlike english "fuck" or "shit", which sound always like it is something that some whiny teenager would say. :D
