Christian Bashing?

Why do we, as Pagans, Christian bash so much? Isn't that against what we stand for?

That phrase is a joke. Christian bashing? It's an appropriation of the language of the gay rights movement by these fools in order to appropriate a mantel of victimhood and stifle valid criticism. Do not use it, you're merely validating thier absurd victim complex. And paganism as a non-dogmatic belief system and as such, no one but me will dictate interpretation. I do not feel that I should have to be tolerant of anyone unless they earn it, and christians need to try a lot harder than most.

I was speaking of "Christian Bashing" in a specific situation where, frankly, it is appropriate.

As for my claims of Pagans and acceptance, I am speaking of the movement. We are fighting a social movement, part of which is dispelling false beliefs set by the old church. Part of doing that is rising, as a movement, above the standards we hold for others.

This is my opinion. You are free to disagree, but I can't help feel that an accepting POV will move the Neo-Pagan movement into the future.

Bash christians? Nah well there are a few that like to find the fight themself but most of us seem happy to be peacefull posting educational videos.

I have never said that we should take anything lying down. Defending ourselves is one thing, preemptive attacks because we think they might attack us is another.

Too many Pagans just assume they are being/will be attacked just because the person/people are Christian.

If you're being bashed, defend yourself, whether it's being done by a Christian, a Pagan, or even a Pastafarian... Just don't bash the next guy you see from that group because of the one before.

its not christian bashing to be nervous of an oragised sector of a religion that let's face it does have a history with pagaism that's attending a pagan event, and i don't think a lot of people knew that they were invited

The only animosity I hold toward the Christian religion is the fact many believe their way is the ONLY way. Raymond Buckland said it best.

I, for one, respect their beliefs. I'm sorry I do not have faith in the Bible. I do not believe there should be a set of rules outlining how one is supposed to live his/her life. I believe in free will...this is where you learn your lesson of morality.

Furthermore, I don't believe in a God ruling over us. The Gods are equal to us and make mistakes.

probably comes from the fact that the christian movement tends to be extremely alienating and harsh in general so the mere presence of christian individuals, be them accepting or not, tends to feel very threatening to non Christians, LGBT peoples, ect, and most people feel the need to lash out when they feel threatened. basic instinct.

Sorry for just randomly popping in on you, considering you don't even know me; however, this comment just stuck me as something that I should reply to. First, I am an Evangelical Christian. I simply wish to clarify what Witnessing is and is not. Witnessing is allowing others to see how Christ has changed your life through the way you conduct yourself. It is not going door to door asking if you wish to accept JC as your personal Lord and Savior. Like many faiths we have some who go too far.
