Sorry for the poor quality, but the video is just meant to give you a general idea. This is a linux shell script playing "Still Alive" from Portal using just the built in speaker on the PC. to use this, you need to be running linux on your PC, you have to install the program "beep"

http://www.johnath.com/beep/beep-current.tar.gz

or "apt-get install beep" on ubuntu

And you need to run the code found at the link below.

  • I don't know why it's so jittery, I blame trying to use Adobe Premiere on Windows 7.

  • I converted your code over to C++(took a while), thanks for the notes :D

  • Nice! I'm currently trying to write a perl script to parse MIDI files and play them with beep. It works quite well and will play Want you Gone with the pc speaker at the moment.

  • My Windows port: pastebin .com/u5sRiFUF

    not perfect but works

  • Very cool! Pastebucket was annoying enough to change the line endings to /r/n, though. It wigged bash pretty bad, but it was simple enough to fix it by opening it up in gedit and re-saving it with unix line endings. I don't know why none of the modern distros come with dos2unix anymore.

  • nice
