Dear me-- would someone please comment on the music? Who cares whether Frederick the Great (or anyone else for that matter) was gay? He was a more than merely competent flautist and composer, and he also wrote operas. There are few statesmen around today who can even hope to do that.

@vonspre actually he wasn't homosexual. he had a sexually transmitted desease, which he was probably infected with in his early twenties, due to copulation with a farmgirl. the myth that Friedrich II. was homosexual is based on the assumption that he disliked his wife for that reason, while in reality he was ashamed of his condition.
please don't state theses like that without having the proper knowledge - you might offend people..

@vonspre Weil man das nach 250 Jahren auch so gut beweisen kann... Er liebte seine Frau nuneinmal nicht und wollte nicht so recht etwas mit ihr zu tun haben. Und es heißt, dass er eine Geschlechtskrankheit gehabt haben soll, die Narben hinterlassen hat, für die er sich geschämt hat.

Sorry, aber das gespielte Stück ist weder song noch ein Flötenkonzert. Wir hören den ersten Satz einer dreisätzigen Symphonie von Friedrich II.
