To get hit while you are already relaxed and unconscious (as so'called "referee" Ruby Goldstein allowed Paret to get hit over 20 times by Griffith while he was already unconscious).
To hit the back of your head/neck on a rope while already falling relaxed is very dangerous (what killed featherweight champion Davey Moore).
Both happened to DeMarco here.

Notice how when Akins finally does open up when he sees his man hurt, he turns his whole body with each punch.
The last left hook landed while DeMarcdo was already falling. It sent him flying into the ropes with the back of his head/neck. That is is very dangerous: (how Davey Moore died)

This was the level of a championship fight.
Akins doesn't open up very often. When he does he's a killer.
DeMarco wore himself out, doing all the work, while Akins waited.
