  • Just seen them on TV and brought back the memories, was my mothers favorite of all. She totally loved these guys, They came to Joplin MO. I believe in early 90's and I told a friend of mine I had to take my momma, she was on cloud 9. She has since passed, It bring me joy that I have that memory of her with that gleam in her eyes all evening.

  • @firepimp83

    :-)

    yeah statler´s rulez

  • yeah!!!

statler´s, they are just one of the best!!!!

  • They were a class act, when jimmy stepped in, not one beat was missed. Harold designed all thier suits. Call them horrid if you want, i think they are classy. Simply the best to ever hold a microphone. Thank You Statlers for giving us and the Country you lived in and loved your best for nearly 40 years.

  • Sure, Bob, lots of differences. They're older in the other video, and of course, Lew was still the tenor in this one (later replaced by Jimmy Fortune). But they have always been a sensational group, from their beginnings in Gospel, through they rock and roll years (Flowers on the Wall) all the way to their wistful nostalgia. Thanks so much for posting. LOVE these guys!

  • The Statlers were a pleasant anomaly...they patterned themselves after a typical southern gospel quartet, yet they did not sing the normal parts of a typical southern gospel quartet. Harold was a baritone covering a higher-than-normal bass range; both Phil and Lew sang tenor, and with Don singing lead, there was no true baritone in the group.

If it hadn't been for the characteristics of their voices and their incredibly smooth blend, it probably wouldn't have worked. But for them, it did.

  • i knew id love this song from the very first line, it makes me laugh as well, such a happy song :) love it!! xx

  • @mr69mustangman1 I believe it to be from the last episode of thier Variety Show. They did this number a few times on that show. But the costumes i believe were from the last show.

  • Mustangman, I believe this to be the closing number of the last episode of their Variety Show.

  • We are losing so many great singers and so few are taking there place.
