Underwater videography was conducted using a remotely-operated vehicle (ROV) to capture real-time video footage of the USACE Great Wicomico River restored oyster reefs. This video clip shows unrestored bottom (00:00:00 00:00:20), low-relief reefs (00:00:21 00:01:25), and high-relief reefs (00:01:26 00:02:59), as well as transitions between each reef type. Note the ring of pseudo-feces produced by an actively filtering oyster on a high-relief reef (00:02:33). The predicted trajectory of the low-relief reefs (00:03:00 00:03:30) is a return to an unrestored bottom state. In contrast, the high-relief reefs (00:03:31 00:04:27) are predicted to persist and thrive. The ROV footage is made possible by Commonwealth Pro- Dive, Inc.; The compilation was created by Virginia Institute of Marine Science graduate student Russell Burke.
