The FC Twin is a "Famiclone" by Yobo that plays both NES and SNES titles. It seems to be of better quality than some of the other clone systems out there (e.g., see my Retro Duo overview). The controllers could have been better (I recall them being much nicer in the revision/package from two or so years ago), but thankfully they are compatible with standard/official Super Nintendo controllers. From my understanding, these should be able to play Famicom games just fine--However, Super Famicom games are unplayable without a converter (The system has the same types of tabs that prevent them from fitting, like an original SNES system).

*EDIT (3/15): After playing with it some more, I found that the controllers seem to be about on the same level as the Retro Duo controllers--There are virtually NO diagonals on these things, rendering many games unplayable. Make sure you have an official SNES controller, or a solid 3rd party pad in-hand prior to buying one of these things. Again, the FC Twin models from two years ago didn't have this problem, and they were actually fairly proper controllers (that didn't feel quite as cheap). Makes you wonder why Yobo cut corners on the latest models..?

  • does your fc twin still work fine?

  • @Saiyaman64 Yep! I use it as my primary SNES/NES system as well (it saves space!). No problems so far!

  • Thanks for the upload :)

  • @ariba1888 No problem--Thanks for watching! :)

  • Do you know if the updated ones have a different model number or not? I want to find one of these but I want the updated version if I can possibly find it.

  • @bgirl19872 Unfortunately, I do not know the answer to this. Someone below mentioned that you can tell by the date on the bottom of the system (mine is 2007). I am not certain if you can tell just by looking at the packaging though.

  • @Ace9921 Ooooh, that's nice to know about the controllers. The ones with mine don't seem to be all that great.

  • @austinmackert - It's just like my first FC Twin. Its sticker had 2007 on it. The new one I have says 2011 on the sticker. The Super NES side's chipset actually changed a bit. They're the same three TCT-97x chips as before, but they shrunk them down to the size of the TCT-6801 GOAC in the RetroN3. The controllers are a hell of a lot better too and the packaging is completely different(there's a non-shrink-wrapped plastic tray instead of shrink-wrapped cardboard tray).

  • @Ace9921 The sound, um, 'sounds' fine on mine. I don't hear any distortion as far as I can tell. Albeit, it is a couple years old now.. *goes and checks the bottom of the system* ... Looks like mine was leftover 2007 stock, according to the sticker! :)
