Sandbaggers were America's earliest racing sailboats, raced in the mid nineteenth century. Developed from oyster fishing boats, the sandbaggers featured enormous sailplans, long bowsprits, low freeboard and vertical stems. They were stabilized against the wind by the crew stacking 50 pound sandbags on the weather gunwhales.

Peter Kellog funded the building of two replica, sandbaggers, Bull and Bear, which he has donated to help promote community sailing.

Bull and Bear are sailing out of Annapolis and the National Sailing Hall of Fame for the summer of 2010 season.

Music in the video is "Rosin the Bow", by Bobby Horton from the compilation CD "Mark Twain; a film by Ken Burns"
