Nope.. It just draws the fuel up through the paper and burns at the surface. When the fuel runs out it chars the top of the paper a little. But you can still refill it and use it again.

@kens97sto171 Does it have any vents around the side?

Seems to be. The heat output was really good. I think I like the smaller tuna cans stuffed with cardboard and filled with candle wax better, not as clean burning, but safer to store ready to go.

@kens97sto171 It's really efficient, then.

It worked pretty good. It ended up burning for 2 1/2 hours. on about 8 ounces of 91% alcohol. good flame for about 2hrs then it slowly died down. Still a good little stove or emergency heat. The can never got really hot, so you could probably even use it inside a car for heat if you got stuck in the snow, or broke down. I saw this idea on YouTube, but they used a quart size paint can. That would be better cause you can seal the lid better. But the bean can was free.

I can almost imagine little 20" hobos around it, heating their hands. :)
Might be another type of emergency developing here because you ate a can of beans and then burned up your roll of TP :-)

LOL!!!! Funny. It was green beans.. But yeah. Wanted to try this. I think I like the smaller can stuffed with cardboard and using candle wax as the fuel better. It stores ready to use safely with no smell. And after the wax is used up you can still use alcohol in those too.
