A long time in coming, our porch is almost done. I'll do another video of it when it's completely finished. It has changed the cabin experience from great to fantastic!

  • Very cool!! Do you mind if I ask, how many sq. ft is it?? I'm looking at building a small off grid cabin in OR, and if it's under 200, I don't need a building permit. That looks like a perfect size, so I was just curious. I love the covered porch too... great job & please... keep us posted if you do more work to it!

*would love to see the inside.

  • @jjrants Plan on doing another video in Sept. The inside of the cabin is on another vid I shot a while back called "Trapper's Tilt".

  • @jjrants Oops, forgot your other question: It's 13 x 13 feet inside (169 sq. ft). Hope you like to work really hard. Glad I was a lot younger when I built it, not sure I would be up for it now or perhaps it would take much longer... :-)

  • whoa Kieth... your cabin is beautiful! Front porch looks real cozy, i'd love to relax on it with a refreshing barley soda some day. what kind of wood is it made of?

  • @dirtTdude The first three or four courses of logs are cedar, the rest are red pine. The porch is just green-treated lumber and regular pine which I'm going to SOAK with some tasty UV stain coating, otherwise it would be toast soon. Re-apply as necessary. There is probably more wood preservative in that thing than was used in Jefferson's entire Monticello estate. I'll toast to your barley soda with my fermented grape juice and some fine "qěnēh bośem".

  • @artistkeith3 Nice!!! Thanks for the dementions and the link too! I don't mind getting out and breaking a good sweat. I just want a place where I can get the hell out of the city once in awhile, and rreeelllaaxxxxxx. Having that available is a small price to pay for a couple of summers of hard work!

*Plus, I have a nephew that's built like a brick shithouse and loves staying with his uncle. It's about time for him to learn some hard work too. ;)
