Cutting the teeth of a 15 tooth 32 DP
gearwheel using a single point cutter. Indexing the lathe mandrel and driving the milling head by CNC stepper motors.

    It is my own design multi function lathe/mill/CNC

  • How much did this machine cost to build?

  • It cost about £600 for the materials & electronic components etc. The rest is designing, making all the parts. Fitting, assembly & set up also takes a lot of time.

  • can you describe your cutter. is it commercially available or self made? J

  • It is all self made the actual cutting tool is a single point cutter ground to the gear tooth shape.
