We recently caught up with Sweden's The Mary Onettes on their whirlwind trip to New York City, where they played four shows in five days. They spoke to us about the pitfalls they experienced in recording their most recent album, 'Islands' (out now on Labrador), all the attention being paid to Swedish artists in America lately, how they chose their name, and the sonic concepts behind their unique brand of '80s-influenced melodramatic pop.
The video features audio clips from the songs "Dare," "Puzzles," "Century," and "Whatever Saves Me." To hear more, check out 'Islands' in the LimeWire Store: http://www.store.limewire.com/store/app/pages/album/Album/productId/370610

I love this band SO MUCH... but watching this video makes me realize that often it's better not to interview musicians and athletes. Just let them speak through their craft and their skills -- and save the public speaking for people who enjoy it. These guys just come off as bored, tired, and uninterested.
