I love that song so much for 40 years now, and I will love it for the rest of my days.

I never got into Jethro Tull until about 1980 or so. I had heard some of their stuff but never had listened to any one album in its entirety. Had a coworker who continued to play Benefit over and over. I shortly after owned every back catalog lp and kept up the collection ever since. Pure brilliance that has never been equaled in the world of rock.

I got my hands on Benefit when I was 10. Hasn't let it go ever since!

Possibly my favorite Tull song ever. Stand Up and Benefit are the ultimate Tull albums.

I read here that there are those who have been deeply touched by the meaning of these lyrics...I love this band for many reasons, but the meaning to this song has eluded me-can someone help?

Another incredible haunting melody, ingenuis

This song is highly symbolic, and a masterpiece in my opinion. Sossity = Society. Think about the lyrics from that perspective and the song becomes even more amazing...

I wonder. Did Ian sing a version of this song to David/ Dee Palmer after the op?

Ian Anderson is really a great musician, but I dont' know why he writes a bad lyric like this! Very good music but discusable contents.
where did you find all these great pics?
